How to Draw a Carnivorous Wolf

The wolf is a member of the biological family of carnivorous and omnivorous mammals. It is the largest among its fellow members and is a beast of the wild. It primarily inhabits the forest and snow covered regions of North America and Eurasia. They feed mainly on mammals, like sheep, deer, goat, etc. About 39 species of wolves have been identified so far, which differ within geography. The species from the southern parts are more primitive in frame, being smaller, weaker, and thinly covered. The 'northern wolves,' on the other hand, are large and powerful animals. Wolves may grow up to anywhere between 1 meter to 1.6 meters in length. The following instructions are designed to help you draw a wolf:

• Reference image: The first step is to arrange for a picture of your choice that can be used as a model. There is a significant difference between the appearance of the northern and southern varieties, with southern species appearing more like wild dogs. You may look for internet, books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
• Fundamental sketch: You will not need precision drawing tools for this exercise. Freehand sketching will do the trick. Use a coherent structure composed of some ovals, circles, and lines. First, make a circle in the place of the head. Append a cup-like structure to represent the muzzle. Extend a connecting line to indicate the neck area. The other end of this line connects to another circle that marks the upper torso. A similar circle depicts the abdominal area. Alternatively, a large oval can be drawn for the composite body structure. Depending upon the reference image, the position of the limbs is depicted through curvilinear lines with small circles (for claws) in the end. The tail is two-third of the body length. Place it with the help of a curve, keeping this proportion in mind.
• Details: Due to the thick fur of the northern species, sketching its distinct contours may not be very simple. Therefore, the outlines are kept a bit loose to accommodate for the fur in later stages. Begin with the head portion, including the muzzle and ears. Add thickness to the limbs. Next, define the body shape. The tail is also sketched with irregular contours. Its outlines on both the sides extend and connect seamlessly to the central body.
• Final changes: The extent of work needed for highlighting the fur strands and appropriate shading will depend upon the species chosen. Working on a northern wolf can be a much tedious task, especially for color drawings.

How to Sketch Fashion Croquis Quick and Easy

Learning how to sketch fashion croquis can be time consuming. First you have to draw everything perfectly; the head, the arms, body, legs, feet, hands, and even the face take time and dedicated practice to learn how to do correctly. And even though you might get close, as a fashion designer, you're probably really picky and this makes it hard to settle for a mediocre drawing! The good news is that there are so many ways to get great croquis, you don't have to work hard at drawing these if you want to.

When you start to learn how to draw croquis, the first thing to remember is that fashion croquis don't look like regular people. Simply put, this means even if you draw the perfect proportions on the sketch, it still won't be correct. This is because for fashion sketching, the long and lean figure looks more appealing. The measurement standard is 9 heads, meaning that the figure is the height of about 9 heads tall. Some even use a newer standard of 10 heads.

If you want to actually learn how to sketch fashion croquis by hand, there is a great book called "9 Heads" that you can get and it goes very in-depth about what exactly 9 heads means and how it relates to the real human body. But going about things in this way will lead you down a good but very long road as you become proficient in your new skill. On top of that you still need to get the "9 Heads" book to be able to get the in-depth understanding you need, which will cost you money. If you're looking for a free option check out the internet.

The internet is a great place to learn how to sketch fashion illustrations because it gives you the flexibility and depth of a giant library. There are so many different places to get fashion croquis, from university websites to some designers who showcase their croquis freely. You can print these croquis and save them for quick sketching later on. But, alas, you can run into a couple problems using croquis from any place on the internet.
