It is the largest among its fellow members and is a beast of the wild. It primarily inhabits the forest and snow covered regions of North America and Eurasia. They feed mainly on mammals, like sheep, deer, goat, etc. About 39 species of wolves have been identified so far, which differ within geography. The species from the southern parts are more primitive in frame, being smaller, weaker, and thinly covered. The 'northern wolves,' on the other hand, are large and powerful animals. Wolves may grow up to anywhere between 1 meter to 1.6 meters in length. The following instructions are designed to help you draw a wolf:

• Reference image: The first step is to arrange for a picture of your choice that can be used as a model. There is a significant difference between the appearance of the northern and southern varieties, with southern species appearing more like wild dogs. You may look for internet, books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
• Fundamental sketch: You will not need precision drawing tools for this exercise. Freehand sketching will do the trick. Use a coherent structure composed of some ovals, circles, and lines. First, make a circle in the place of the head. Append a cup-like structure to represent the muzzle. Extend a connecting line to indicate the neck area. The other end of this line connects to another circle that marks the upper torso. A similar circle depicts the abdominal area. Alternatively, a large oval can be drawn for the composite body structure. Depending upon the reference image, the position of the limbs is depicted through curvilinear lines with small circles (for claws) in the end. The tail is two-third of the body length. Place it with the help of a curve, keeping this proportion in mind.
• Details: Due to the thick fur of the northern species, sketching its distinct contours may not be very simple. Therefore, the outlines are kept a bit loose to accommodate for the fur in later stages. Begin with the head portion, including the muzzle and ears. Add thickness to the limbs. Next, define the body shape. The tail is also sketched with irregular contours. Its outlines on both the sides extend and connect seamlessly to the central body.
• Final changes: The extent of work needed for highlighting the fur strands and appropriate shading will depend upon the species chosen. Working on a northern wolf can be a much tedious task, especially for color drawings.
And even though you might get close, as a fashion designer, you're probably really picky and this makes it hard to settle for a mediocre drawing! The good news is that there are so many ways to get great croquis, you don't have to work hard at drawing these if you want to.

When you start to learn how to draw croquis, the first thing to remember is that fashion croquis don't look like regular people. Simply put, this means even if you draw the perfect proportions on the sketch, it still won't be correct. This is because for fashion sketching, the long and lean figure looks more appealing. The measurement standard is 9 heads, meaning that the figure is the height of about 9 heads tall. Some even use a newer standard of 10 heads.

If you want to actually learn how to sketch fashion croquis by hand, there is a great book called "9 Heads" that you can get and it goes very in-depth about what exactly 9 heads means and how it relates to the real human body. But going about things in this way will lead you down a good but very long road as you become proficient in your new skill. On top of that you still need to get the "9 Heads" book to be able to get the in-depth understanding you need, which will cost you money. If you're looking for a free option check out the internet.

The internet is a great place to learn how to sketch fashion illustrations because it gives you the flexibility and depth of a giant library. There are so many different places to get fashion croquis, from university websites to some designers who showcase their croquis freely. You can print these croquis and save them for quick sketching later on. But, alas, you can run into a couple problems using croquis from any place on the internet.

If you want to know how to sketch fashion croquis quickly and easily without all the problems, find some places that advertise free croquis. Looking for these types of fashion croquis specifically can keep you out of trouble just in case someone has copyrighted their work. For free fashion croquis and other essential fashion design information, check out the resource box.

I'm not saying that the internet does not have its uses though, if you go over to Google image search and type in the design your thinking of like angel tattoos for girls you will see tons of them, some photos of people with them and other designs and sketches. Use this as inspiration only find a design that you like and customise it in a way that's unique to you. You could either sketch out the design yourself if you have a skill at doing that or go to your tattoo artist and ask them to design something for you. This may cost quite a bit but then again you're going to have this design for the rest of your life so putting some money up front to get that perfect design is pretty much essential.

Right. You have found that perfect tattoo design and you're eager to get it done. There are a few thing you need to prepare yourself with when choosing a tattoo artist, write done all of the questions you would like to know before you go so you don't miss any. Some of these questions should be.

How long have they been tattooing.

You need to find out what sort of qualifications they have and how long they have been tattooing, another good one to ask is what they enjoy tattooing, if it's something they like doing they are more likely to do a better job.

Find out if they guarantee their work.

Some good tattoo studios will guarantee their work which means if you're not entirely happy with the finished tattoo they will do some adjusting and touch ups for no extra money. Also find out how much the completed tattoo will be as some large tattoos can be quite expensive and you don't want any nasty surprises.

If the tattoo artist seems to avoid any of your questions or you are not happy with the answers just find another studio. Get some advice from you fiends it is a lot easier for them to get their honest opinion when they see the tattoo design on paper and not on your skin already.
The personality may be completely captured by your judgment call or reviewed by the sitter and both of you settle on an agreed decision. Use a live model to pose for you. This is portrait sketching at its best. A photo may substitute should you not be able to get anyone to pose.

The purpose of sketching faces is to outline general features; then detail and refine. I had a personal experience which taught me a lesson. Before completing your portrait painting check with your client to be sure the sitter is in agreement.

Why?

I had described exactly how I wanted my portrait to be done and I asked the portrait painting artist if she could do it. If it was not within her talent range to give me what I wanted, do not take the job. She said she could it. We agreed to 50% down and 50% on completion.

She completed the portrait. I was very disappointed as she did not fulfill my requirements. I refused to pay the balance of the agreed amount. I was very angry. I lost my money, but more importantly the portrait never got done.

Till today, I truly feel that if the artist had me review her work as she progressed with the portrait we would have both been very happy. She would have had her money, I would have had my portrait, and I would have done much advertising for her.

Artists may have their tempers, but the paying customer has their rights to the best product that an artist can produce. Artists like any other business person needs to give good customer service.

Thank you for listening to me. Let's go back to being a portrait artist.

Let us take a moment to reflect and think. It was not uncommon years ago for a person to be painted surrounded by those effects which defined the individual. For instance, if the person was a hunter, there would be dogs nearby. If the person enjoyed gardening, he or she would be surrounded by their flowers.

A decision needs to be made if there is to be a background or not for the person you are sketching for a portrait.

This should be an easy decision:

A significant background symbol representing their interests
Wearing apparel which identifies the person
A piece of jewelry which marks their identity
An emblem or medals signifying their accomplishments
Birthmarks or tattoos

The personality of the sitter needs to be captured on canvas with or without a significant symbol. If using symbols, do not let them take away from the sitter. The person is the focus point on the canvas.

After making portrait sketches consider where light and shadow will be noted in the portrait. Light and shadow are critical for emphasizing or de-emphasizing facial lines and expressions.

What size will you be drawing and painting? A standard rule says the subject should be 2/3 of the canvas.
She'll love your originality with your touch of humor.

Check out some of Rembrandt's pen sketches where he created dynamic lines in seconds with a flourish of the hand and wrist. His sketches are worth studying if only for the composition and economy of line.

If you can blank out your mind (which is nigh impossible to do) then try doodling anything on a piece of paper as you would normally do if you were chatting on the phone to a friend. With all those scribbled lines, what images seem to come forth? Abstract meaningless shapes? Your psychologist would probably have a few answers which you would not want to hear.

You might see something amusing and you'll wonder if it is the child in you trying to break out into the creative field? Pen sketching is all about creating lines or images to represent something never before seen. It could be a break away from reality or could it be your "other self" craving for a way out?

Pen artwork requires a little discipline and forethought if your sketches are going to be original. Using quality paper ensures that your sketches are professional without bleeding through the paper (as in blotting paper.) With a felt-tip pen you will be able to draw clean-looking sketches with clear outlines-and to do that, a little confidence is required. A shaky hand means a wobbly line which means lack of confidence, yeah, it shows through.

Awhile back, I started teaching a few kids how to use a pen and ink like the masters of yesteryear. All of these kids had a back-off about making marks on the nice clean paper; they were a little terrified of messing their sketch up. So I asked them to get a small stick and dip it in the ink well and then flick it on the paper. Well, they did this with relish and gained much confidence in knowing it is all part of the creative process.

In the comic sketching world before computers, there were "pencilers" who created the drawings and the "inkers" who inked in the lines before going to press. This is no longer done today as the software does it all for us. See Google's Sketch Up for drawing in 3D.

Master the art of pen sketching and get to know the art, and then branch off into the world of creating all your sketches on your laptop. Create a few superheroes and monsters in conflict and you'll have a ready audience. Hey, it isn't that easy but if you have a passion for pen and line artyou can make it to the topbut it will take dedication and a load of sweat.

Showcase your artwork on the internet, go to DeviantArt where you can download your art for free and get critiques on how you can improve.
You have seen many models and you have visited nearly every store but you still have difficulties choosing. Something seems to be wrong.

The perfect wedding dress lives in your imagination - you have an idea about each tiny detail that will make it impeccable. Why not create that perfect wedding dress yourself?

Designing and creating your own wedding dress is certainly more difficult than purchasing it but the final result will make you 100 percent happy. You will need to do some planning and you will have to purchase materials. The process, however, will be fun and satisfactory.

Here is what you need to know in case you decide to design your own wedding dress.

Sketch Your Ideas
Give yourself some freedom and sketch the ideas you have. Putting the design on paper will help you clarify details.

Be brave and draw the wedding dress, even if you are uncertain in your drawing skills. It does not have to be a work of art, in order to be useful in the dress production process.

Look for Inspiration
Go to a wedding dress store. Try out several dresses. Apart from being very fun, this shopping spree will help you perfect your own design and it will provide you with great ideas.

Choose models resembling the wedding dress design that you have selected. Pay close attention to the fabric, the pieces that make the dress, the stitching and the additional accessories used. It is impossible to replicate a model that you like but you will have some practical knowledge about wedding dress design.

Examine designs online. Print the ones that you like. Pay close attention to the details. Choose the aspects that appeal to you and utilize those in the creation of your unique wedding dress design.

Find the Right Fabric and Supplies
If you think about making the wedding dress yourself, you will have to purchase a quality sewing machine. It needs to have various options and it has to be easy to use.

Choose a high quality machine. Something inexpensive and lacking functionalities could ruin your dress creation attempts.

The same applies to the selection of fabrics. You are going to make a dress for a very special day. Make sure that this dress is perfect. Even if quality fabrics are more expensive, the extra money spent will be totally worth it.

Focus on Details and Accessories
Pay attention to each tiny detail. This is the only way to achieve perfection. The right neckline, the place where you use lace and the embroidery have to look exactly like your dream dress.

Looking at the tiny aspects of it will help you create that one amazing dress. Going for something that is solely satisfactory will produce a mediocre result. If it fails pleasing you, start all over again.

Ask for Professional Help
You may have difficulties making the dress yourself - the process is somehow complex and you lack the time.

Search for professional help. A professional tailor will give you hints about the design and will help you modify certain aspects of it that appear to be imperfect. Consult a professional tailor and present your ideas. This way, you will be making your design happen in a perfect way.
Recently I purchased Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, a book that can be used in many different areas under the umbrellas of Spiritualism and Religion. Containing over 400 herbs, this book can be used for hundred, even thousands of different combinations for everyday use. From aromatherapy to making incense, herbal sachets, herbal baths and herbal teas, this book is the key to choosing the right ingredients. The book is divided into three sections. The first being an introduction to the magical properties of herbs, and how can use these properties to their highest potential.

The second, and most important section, lists the herbs. Every herb listing contains a black-and-white sketch of the herb, the scientific name, gender of the plant, the planet and element associated, magical powers the plant possesses, and magical uses. With most, but not all herbs, other common names associated with the herb are listed. Each listing is sorted alphabetically making it easy to quickly find a plant. The only drawback that I can find to this book is that not all listings tell which part of the plant to use. However, with many leafy plants, the leaves, stems, flowers and seeds can be used so it is not a major drawback.

The final section to this book contains charts sorting all of the herbs. The lists include both masculine and feminine plants, the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, mars, Jupiter and Saturn, the four Elements, and the magical purposes such as luck, money, love, etc. The final list has the colors white, green, brown, pink, red, yellow, purple, blue and orange, along with the magical purposes associated with each color. This section makes it easy to blend products to fulfill one purpose using many different herb combinations.

Each of the three sections work together to take readers through the process of choosing plants based on the magical purposes, and how to use them to their fullest potential. If readers are looking for a book about herbs, the magical purposes each plant has, and how to use them in products, this is the book. I have seen equally, if not greater priced books with have the amount of information in them. I give Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs 4 out of 5 stars.

Flowers seem to naturally lend themselves to watercolor painting. They can be painted in a loose, graceful style or with controlled precision. When painting flowers, choose a style which feels natural to you as you plan your composition.

Roses are such well-loved flowers, and are a popular choice for watercolors. To begin a painting of roses, do a sketch of your vase and flowers. Decide ahead of time how you will handle your background. When painting white flowers it is a good idea to have a dark background which will help your roses to "pop" or to stand out. Show in your pencil value sketch where you brightest whites and darkest darks will be placed. Plan your focal point, placing this area off-center to add more interest. Do the same with your vase. If it is in the middle of your paper it will be less interesting.

Once your value sketch is completed and your subject has been penciled in on your watercolor paper you are ready to paint. If you want to use masking fluid to preserve some of your white paper, this is the time to apply it. Remember to wet your brush, then coat it with soap before dipping it into te masking fluid! If this step is overlooked, you may not be able to remove the masking fluid from your brush and it will be ruined. ( Some of the masking fluids come with an applicator.) Once it has dried, you will paint right over it. When your painting is complete, it can be removed with an eraser or your finger, revealing the preserved area of white paper.

Some of your white roses need not be white! A diluted wash of rose madder genuine on some petals, and aureolin yellow on others will give your painting some depth. Mix these two colors together, and use as a light wash to give more interest to your painting.

Vary your leaves and stems. Have some leaves twist and curl. Show more detail in your foreground and let some fade off into the background. Remember your light source throughout your painting. Give your stems a delicate curve, don't use straight lines. Use a variety of greens, both cool and warm. Practice mixing greens.

Paint highlights on your vase, but don't overdo. This is a case of less is more. One or two well placed highlights is much more effective than many. One additional thought; a fallen petal or two can add a nice touch.

If you become more talented in this art you will be able to find some interesting career openings for yourself and will be able to take up cartoon drawing as your profession. There are some suggestions that eminent cartoon artists try to share with those who are new to cartoon drawing, so that the newer people can develop their skills. I have tried to share some tips that will help you in becoming more knowledgeable about cartoon drawing.

1. To become an expert in any art form that you take up, you have to put in a lot of dedication. Without proper dedication you would not be able to get the desired level of expertise in any art form of your choice. Thus it is crucial that if you are interested in cartoon drawing, you should try to practice as much as you can. With the right mix of practice and dedication, you will be able to develop your cartoon drawing skills more and more with time.

2. You can make your cartoon drawing more attractive by adding a lot of color to your cartoons. While making cartoon sketches you should try to improve by looking around you and gathering inspiration from what you see around you. You should use lighter strokes of a pencil for making your cartoons, and gradually make them deeper with time. Doing this enables you to correct your mistakes up without making the paper on which you are doing the sketches untidy. With practice you will be able to make cartoons even using pens, which allows very little scope for corrections as in comparison to the sketches that are made using pencils. You will be able to make better cartoons by following the video tutorials of famous cartoon artists that are found at the major stores.

3. With cartoon drawing, you need to keep your sketches limited to a bare minimum. Adding too many details will spoil the overall feel of the sketches and make them appear tacky. You will be able to create finer art with time. There are a large number of places from which you will be able to draw inspiration while drawing cartoons. Though it is generally thought by people that cartoons are very easy to draw, the truth it is not as easy as it seems to be. For getting the best results people have to practice a lot, and many times it may take hours to create some cartoon sketches. Cartoon drawing for comic strips is much harder, as your sketches have to be such that they will be able to portray stories along with the sketches.

You need to have a very good imagination power if you desire to go to places with cartoon drawing. With lots of practice and dedication, you will find that, cartoon drawing is a very profitable profession, and you will face no trouble in making money. The work is also very enjoyable and this definitely adds to its positives. I suggest that you start by studying the works of other artists and with gradual improvement come up with a style of your own.

Branding through cartoon logo images can give back a glimpse of naiveté to the customers.

Cartoon emblems have the tendency to give a light hearted impression to the overall message of a design but it does not minimize the impact of the message in any way. On the contrary, it enhances it. They also provide a wider margin for creativity as even a minor change in the expression of character in the comic symbol can alter the entire note of the brand mark. You don't even need strong words or catchy slogans for the design, the expressions of the character can prove to be attractive enough.

Because there is already quite a lot of violence everywhere, the light heartedness of comic symbols appeals to the customers more than any other type of logo design. For example, an institution trying to preserve environment that has used an animated image of a cute rabbit hugging a tree will make a greater impact on the target audience than a photograph of a tree being chopped down.

According to psychologists, when a customer looks at an animated sketch he is reminded of his childhood times of happiness because of which he can find an instant connection with the monogram. It also helps him look at the product features with the curiosity and innocence of a child.

Another great advantage of animations is that they are the easiest to recall compared to other type of images. Because of the exaggerated expressions of the comic characters, they easily create a unique place in our memories and thus the product becomes memorable for us.

Cartoon images are also very flexible and can be used in most of the business around. For example, you can use an animation for an accounting firm, a school, a sports team or even a production house. There are very few businesses that would not be properly suited for comic illustrious like a funeral home.

One of the latest trends in logo designs for sports team's symbols is use of comic images. One great advantage that it serves is that it automatically generates a mascot for the team which the players find easy to associate with. A mascot will not only be a symbol of pride and celebration but it will also influence strong team like behavior of the squad.

Even from the point of view of a cartoon logo designer, creating this type of image ensures a more original and innovative approach towards brand marking than any other.

In a nutshell, animated emblems are magnetic, attractive, communicative and flexible which ensures its lasting impact and long life in the creative word.
Would it ever happen that I will be commissioned to do a mural up to my liking? Have enough to put enough energy to bring closer to completion or life will pass and I won't paint what is burning inside? And it is OK if it will never happened. Artists are familiar with that feeling having so many ideas and images in your head which won't fit into one's lifetime.
My admired Hokusai learned all his life and was getting ready to create at the age 100.

Here is a quote:

“

From around the age of six, I had the habit of sketching from life. I became an artist, and from fifty on began producing works that won some reputation, but nothing I did before the age of seventy was worthy of attention. At seventy-three, I began to grasp the structures of birds and beasts, insects and fish, and of the way plants grow. If I go on trying, I will surely understand them still better by the time I am eighty-six, so that by ninety I will have penetrated to their essential nature. At one hundred, I may well have a positively divine understanding of them, while at one hundred and thirty, forty, or more I will have reached the stage where every dot and every stroke I paint will be alive. I remember my horse riding days, none of them liked cars.
